I’ve decided on an official name for this blog. “Character in Fragrance” I also have this idea for a creative aspect for this blog. Instead of just analytical stuff and me sending readers to other sites for information on a topic, well, let me ask you this. Have you ever thought of the smell of a character in a movie, TV show, or book? Now, I don’t mean their actual smell, but more the idea of a smell that represents them? For those that know me, you know that I love vampires. I love reading about them, and coming up with characters or mythos for them. Not Twilight vampires. I’ll say that right now. Vampires don’t sparkle.
What they do is drink blood, kill people, and generally make a mess of things when they’re not hiding in the shadows. Along with this is their penchant for smelling things and people in a creepy, stalker-y way. (No, Ms. Meyer, you did not come up with that on your own.) Vampires have been smelling people for ages. Well, this gave me an idea. What if vampires could describe what a person smells like, not their personality or just “blood, warm blood, Earl Grey, hot,” but by giving an actual, kind of “sense memory?” Like when a smell takes you back to a certain moment, and you can remember all the things around you. What people were saying and doing, and the smell that epitomizes that moment. What if vampires described people like that? Pulling out a image of life that perfectly describes that person. Now, I’m not going to start writing vampire fan fiction on this blog, but I would like to take a shot at describing the “smell” of characters I love from movies and TV from the point of view of how a vampire would describe their blood. Maybe a little creepy, but I would love to know what you think of my little one cent take on a character’s scent. See if I did a good job in describing a character “correctly” or at least did them justice. If we get enough people reading and commenting, it might be fun to start getting character suggestions. Hmm, maybe? Now I feel like I need a sign off. What do you think?
Looking forward to a aroma description of John Wick, Sam & Dean, True Blood – any of them, Buffy and Angel/Angelus, and Spike.
